Managerial Board of EIU Approved the 2019-2025 Annual Work Performance as of Strategic Plan

On June 22, 2021, the regular session of the Board Meeting of Eurasia International University was held, which was chaired by the Chairman of the Board, Professor Samvel Pipoyan.

It should be stated that various strategic issues are discussed and approved by the Board Members. The Board includes external stakeholders, such as leading specialists in the field, experts, scientists, and employers, and internal stakeholders such as EIU institutional leaders, lecturers, and students.

During the session, the rector of the university Mr. Suren Ohanyan presented a report on the activities of 2019-2020 with an analysis of the strategic indicators per strategic goals of the above-stated timeframe. The rector spoke about financial stability, effective budget management, involvement of new sources for financial inflow, the expansion of students, the development and implementation of new educational programs, the promotion of applied research, and several other issues in detail. Also, Mr. Ohanyan was pleased to announce that as part of a study, conducted by the International Center for Higher Education at Boston College, Eurasia International University has been selected as an example of the best practice among the private universities and will be featured in a book on Armenia’s higher educational system.

Then, EIU Chief Accountant A․ Alexanyan presented the budget execution for 2020 and the budget forecast for 2021, including detailed information on budget allocation per unit.

One of the issues on the agenda was the presentation of the annual report by the EIU Quality Assurance (QA) Center. Mariam Jilavyan, Head of the QA Center, presented the activities and initiatives implemented by the QA Center in the 2019-2020 academic year, as well as, she referred to the activities of the EIU under the pandemic situation. The speaker presented the methodological and organizational issues for online courses, the undertaken steps towards the above-stated issues, as well as, presented mechanisms of quality assurance for distance learning. In her speech, M. Jilavyan also mentioned that based on the positive experience, starting from the 2020-2021 academic year, all EIU educational programs have been reviewed and transformed into a hybrid educational system. The Board members, considering the EIU experience positive, approved the report by the QA Center.

Director of the Research Incubator Areik Ohanyan presented the EIU Policy for Research Promotion to the Board. It is noteworthy that the document defines the

framework, guidelines, and policies for quality improvement of research activities by teaching staff and students.

It should be noted that the main purpose of the document is to link the research agenda of the teaching staff, postgraduate students, master students to the national (priorities of the RA Science and Technology Development 2020-2024) as well as the goals summarized in the

“Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” in the context of the priorities of the Republic of Armenia.

At the meeting, board members emphasized the competitive advantages of the university, made suggestions on several programs promoting the university, the implementation of which will take place shortly.
