Program Description

The bachelor program of Information Systems  provides students with theoretical knowledge, as well as practical and technical skills for the implementation of state-of-the-art information systems in the field of modern business and management

This program has been developed jointly with leading Armenian employers with the aim of developing specialists who will master the basics of WEB technologies and programming, as well as acquire computer networks, database development, data analysis, information systems security and other knowledge.

Structure of the program

The following Bachelor program consists of mandatory and elective subjects:

Mandatory Subjects ։ During the learning process of mandatory subjects, the students study both general and professional subjects. These subjects are mandatory for all students of the given profession. Information Systems students take the following core subjects:

Elective Subjects: In addition to the mandatory subjects, students have the opportunity to choose from a list of elective subjects. The choice of elective subjects depends on the student’s preferences and future career plans. The list of electives is updated annually by the Chair, taking into account the rapid pace of change in the labour market and economy. The offered subjects are:

The complete list of elective subjects could be collected from the Chair of Management and IT. The elective courses can also be chosen from the list of subjects by the Department of Law, Foreign Languages and Pharmacy.

Professional Internship and Master Thesis։ The last semester of the master’s program is entirely devoted to research work. During this period, a professional internship is conducted, for which the place is chosen in accordance with the topic of the master’s thesis. The Chair of Management and IT pursues that the topics of the master’s thesis are in line with the priorities of science and technology development in the Republic of Armenia, as well as the goals of UN Sustainable Development.

Career Prospects: Graduates of the program become programmers, database specialists, WEB designers, network administrators, IT systems developers and supervisors in various sectors of the economy. In addition to providing educational services, the Chair of Management and IT creates great opportunities for students to shape their future, particularly:

The internship opens wide horizons, after which our students are often invited to work by the employer.

Learning Outcomes

You will know:

  • advanced and alternative theories, concepts, and models of IT, business and management field
  • tools for the development and management of modern information systems
  • define and describe the theoretical principles of Web technologies
  • interpret the principles and norms related to the use and construction of information systems, as well as data management, confidentiality, publicity and transparency.

You will master:

  • modern IT project management methods and types of software tools
  • how to effectively present the status of the IT project, existing problems, expectations, and risks to all stakeholders both in written and verbal format
  • project (including agile) and process management skills using modern ICT tools
  • skills required to conduct quantitative and qualitative research using appropriate methods in the field of business and management

You will be able to:

  • analyze quantitative and qualitative data to make appropriate decisions taking into account different situations
  • manage all the phases of the project, considering pre-established qualitative-quantitative criteria in the frames of the planned time and finance
  • develop and create Web sites
  • communicate and negotiate effectively  with all IT project stakeholders both orally and in written
  • develop and create databases
  • analyze the business processes of the organization and   manage business process optimization and improvement projects
  • critically analyze and combine key concepts based on the academic knowledge and practical knowledge of management and the IT sphere
