EIU Celebrates the International Women’s Day

IMG 5854 1The story of the holiday comes from 1910 when Clara Tsetkin, the leader of the Women’s Social-Democratic Party of Germany, put forward the idea to celebrate the International Women’s Day during the Women Second International Conference in Copenhagen. Tsetkin considered the goal of this holiday the fight for women’s IMG 5915rights. Over time, the political part of the holiday has been forgotten and today it is celebrated as a day of expressing love, beauty and love for the IMG 5898 1woman.

On March 7, the EIU Student Council organized a festive event, which was accompanied by poems a dedicated to women, good wishes, songs and hospitality.

The festive high spirits provided the boys of the University, who had a variety of surprises for girls all day long.
